Our Beliefs

Searching for meaning and intimacy, some wonder if the faith that works for others will work for them as well. Others just see religion as boring, irrelevant, judgemental, and hypocritical. But we believe differently.

We believe that christianity is the absolute truth that brings hope, life, excitement, purpose and most importantly relationship; a personal relationship with a living God. Our God is a God who infinitely cares about us, and what we do on this earth. He stands at the doors of each of our hearts waiting for us to let him into our lives.

Every other religion in the world says that we can work our way to Heaven and into God's favor. The only true way to Heaven is by asking God for forgiveness. It is not by works, but by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ who died and endured our punishment so that we could go free and not be held guilty. Christianity brings the assurance of salvation and a meaningful purpose to one's life. It is the beginning of living a life filled with joy and purpose, and the undeniable assurance that we are not doing it alone.

Reading the Word

The Bible is God's inspired Word. Besides revealing the Good News about forgiveness and eternal life, it can also answer the many questions you will have as you try to live a life that pleases God. It will enable you to be "thoroughly equipped for every good work: (2 Timothy 3:17)".

Here are some suggestions as you begin reading the Bible on a daily basis: First, read through the Gospel of John, a chapter a day. This will help you understand the basic facts about the Gospel. Then read Acts, for the exciting story of how Christ's first disciples spread the Good News of His death and resurrection. Next, read some of the letters that Christ's apostles wrote to these first disciples - all of whom were new in their faith, just like us. These letters include Romans through 3 John. Then, go back and read one of the other three gospels: Matthew, Mark or Luke. Whenever you can, talk with others about what you are learning.

Praying to God

Talk with God often. Talk over your problems with Him. Let Him bear the weight of your troubles. (See Matthew 11:28; 1 Peter 5:7.) You don't need to be supernatural to pray and there are no set rules. Prayer is nothing more than a conversation with God.

Suggestions for your daily prayer time: Plan a definite time, preferably in the morning when your mind is fresh and rested. Make it a habit. Select a quiet place where you can be alone with God. Make a list of requests, for others as well as yourself. Read and meditate on a portion of Scripture, then spend time in prayer. As you end your daily time with God, commit the day and yourself to Him.

Attending a Church

As you learn about God you develop a relationship not only with Him but also with other Christians. Whatever it meant to you in the past, going to church cannot become a rich and rewarding experience. As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another. You will grow in understanding by hearings God's Word preached and taught. You can ask questions and discuss Scripture with others. You will learn to worship God, which means praising Him for all that He is and thanking Him for all that He has done for you. As you worship, learn and serve with other Christians, you will find individuals with whom you can form lasting friendships (friendships that will last for all eternity!).

Worship

We need to learn to worship God in every area of our lives: at home, at work, in our cars... everywhere. Believe it or not, worship does not happen automatically the moment you walk through the doors of the church each week! There are some choices that you can make that will bring a real difference to your focus on God during worship. Start with thanksgiving. When you put thanks at the top of the list, it tends to put everything else in the right order. No, you shouldn't fake it and say everything in your life is perfect, but if you want to bring the truth about God's greatness to both the good and the bad in your life, be thankful.

Be authentic - People can spot hypocrisy a mile away.

Be yourself - God is interested in our hearts.

Don't be manipulated - True worship is not a show.

Be creative - Worship God in refreshing and new ways.

Be consistent - Live life in an attitude of worship.
